Talk to me please !!

1 minute read time.

I am a first year art degree student (mature) who was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago.

My art has involved how everyday objects can become very important in helping you cope with cancer. It has become away of me processing the shock of diagnosis and treatment. I use a variety of mediums but particularly enjoy drawing, I also use a method call cyanotype which gives a beautiful blue image.

I would like to speak to other people who have felt that an everyday object or routine has helped them cope with a view to either drawing, painting or recording the object or event. I have realised that when your problems or fears are too huge focusing on the small and mundane can give reassurance far beyond their importance. I live in the derbyshire/sheffield area and if anyone belongs to group that would be willing to talk to me I would be really happy to show them my work.

I have written a little about the objects that became important to me on my profile to show you that they don't have to be grand, the simpler the better. I am not 'arty'! - i was an accountant for 20 years prior to university.
