Thoughts from the frontline - 43

2 minute read time.

Dateline Friday 2nd October 2009 and I'm at home again now that T has gone back to work. So, do I get up early with her and start my day with a skip and a smile? Err, no, I snuggle back up in bed and doze off again!

I have always called myself an early riser and, before cancer, used to get up between 6 and 6.30 every morning and be in the office by 7.30 at the latest. Now I have always been the "provider" until getting together with T. We have this wonderfully simple relationship where we do this thing called "sharezies". And it's great! Both work full time, both use our joint account, both do things that we are best at. Both agree the ironing sucks so we get a friend to do that for us!

Anyway, back to lazing around in bed. It's not that I have just got lazy it's because, for the first time in my life it seems, I am allowed to let my body decide that I am allowed to sleep and at the moment, post surgery, I'm needing about 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night. Tis very strange for a chap who firmly believed he only needed about 6 hours max for most of his working life! Having cancer sure does make you challenge your preconceived ideas about yourself!

But I did get up at 9 and went straight to work on the old computer. I am happy that I'm back doing some work bits even if just for a few hours a day at the moment. Target is to be back "full time" for three months post surgery. I do love having the brain working a bit better, fuzzy brain now almost a thing of the past.

Made a couple of calls about the new offices in the village today and the agent should get back to us on Monday with the Landlord's offer. Let's hope he thinks it's a buyers market at the moment and offers us a good rent free period to take on a long new lease!

Friday was a cancer free day as far as my head was concerned and when the question came up in the evening on a night out for a meal with friends "So, how do you feel then?" I just said "Not too bad" and carried on with the general chit chat.

However I do know that I have just six days to my endoscopy and just 30 days until my next CT scan. Bloody things doesn't ever completely go away does it??

Have a great weekend all, T and I will be designing wedding invitations this weekend. Now that is now only 6 months away!!!

Nice for some to be able to lie in till 9...i wish..my little cherub was rattling his cage about 5.45 and I managed a whole 10 mins of blotting out the mummmmmmy sound before I had to give in and get up. There are better things to do at that time in the morning/night but disney tv is not too bad, at least he was happy snuggling under a blanky but he would not shut up. Oh to have so much energy first thing. Dont work too hard Andrew and have a good weekend.

It's nice to be able to have a lie in when you feel you need it. I love snuggling under the duvet and cuddling my pillow....sheer bliss. My sleep pattern has gone all to cock. I'm waking up, wide awake at about 3 or 4 in the morning. I usually go and make a cup of tea, with a biscuit (tea's too wet without a biscuit) and switch on my laptop. Eventually I start to feel sleepy again, so slip off for another couple of hours.

Hope the designing of the invitations goes well. Six months will soon go by and what a wonderful event to look forward to. T will have lots of virtual bridesmaids!

Oh sleep, I just want 6 hours non stop, no waking up for the loo, no fighting with the quilt.  Ironic, when I was off I was waking at 7am - now I'm back at work I'd wake at 8.30 if I was allowed.  Enjoy your lie in's A.

Good luck with the invitations, oooh vertual bridemaids what a great idea.. lol

    Have fun
