Day 1

1 minute read time.

on wednesday May 3rd Amy woke to find a ambulance at her door, her blood test the previous day had come back that she needed to get to hospital ASAP, littl did we know that things would turn out the way they have,  She was seen in A&E and immediatley transfered to the oncology ward, There they told her she needs to be kept in, She has  7 children the youngest being only 4 months, then she has a 3 year old, a 6 year old a 9 year old a11 year old a 14 year old and a 20 year old, the 20 year old being pregnant,

Day 2 a bone marrow test, poor Amy her blood is so bad shes bleeding from everywhere they stick her, her bone marrow test for her so far has been the hardest

Day 3 the unofficial offical diagnosis, being taken into the family room to be told you have bone marrow cancer is hard, family ask questions but its a ll a blur, not one of us recall what was said apart from the fact she has cancer, I personally have not cried yet, everyone including amy have but one of us has to stay strong, im her mother, have i done something wrong when she was a child? is it my fault? who has had cancer withing the family? what the hell do we do now? how do i care for my child when shes a adult?? loads of questions, most of which the answer i know is no,but i cant help feeling its my fault.

Day 4 partner has to try to bring baby everyday, even though she's not allowed on the ward, i let Amy down because i dont visit, wonder how many more times im going to feel guilty, you know its not even like she had no visitors but I DIDNT go. this is going to be a long journey, i just pray her saying she will fight for her kids and grandchild are enough.I will add more days as we go on, but right now, the battle has just begun, they will know more on the 9th, and we will find out how the battle ground looks

  • Wow hope you can be strong and help your daughter and that she gets some positive news to help her.  I also had to rush in as soon as blood results were available.  But mine is a pancreatic cancer and I know how scary that was.  Just hope your daughter gets some quality time as she definitely as a lot of reasons to fight this.  All the best for tomorrow.

  • thank you, i hope you are in remission

  • Fast forward to day 7, amy started her chemo today, sat patiently waiting to find out when it would start, then at 5 pm the doctor and nurse came around with aa big tray, The chemo started, amy was shaking and crying, as she had never put chemicals into her body, shes never smoked (apart from the odd ons at school) she doesnt drink and has only prescription meds, her children only know mummy's blood is bad and that she needs help to make it better, ive been there with her as much as my hdealth will allow, but we started her journey together and together we will end it.the results we were expecting on the 9th only came back with what waas already known. SO on that note i will update tomorrow if any news

  • day 8 of treatment, Amy has had most of her chemo now, its not affected her too badly ...YET, today i talked her into asking drs about the headaches she has been having since her symptoms first started, hes refering her for a ct scan, amy thinks shes beat this awful illness but although her doctors are saying her blood uis improving, im worried shes burying her head in the sand, has any relative ever thought this before?? she has refused point blank to do any research into this cancer, as shes scared as to what research will say. shes not even finished her first round of chemo yet, but believes its gone. God this is hard for a parent to understand why she is behaving like this

  • im so sorry i didnt manage to keep the blog updated, but 4 months on , at the second round of chemo we got the news we wanted, technically she went into remission, but after her 3rd round she started complaining of bones aching ect, she said it was her hardest round, not even a week into the neutrophils dropping amy complained of a really strong headache, and temperature, she was due at the hospital for blood tests ect anyway so she held off going until her appointend time, they took her temperature, and called the on duty doctor to her, he insisted she be admitted, fast foward to friday, her temp was still up then she got very short of breath, they transfered her to ICU (intensive care) where sadly amys condition got 1000% worse, within a hour of moving wards Amy lost her fight, we dont know how quickly a person loses their life but she had put up a great fight, i cant believe ive lost not only my daughter but my best friend, i now have to share the responsibily in making sure her children recover from this dreadful time, thank you all for reading, i just wish the update had a better conclusion
