malignant pleural effusion, has anyone out there had this condition and if so for how long? do you have to have frequent chest drains ?are you having or had taxotere chemo ?

My mom who was diagnosed with stage 3c is not stage 4 as a result of malignant pleural effusion. It was outside her lungs. They have fixed it (talc powder) I think. Can any one tell me is this effective and help it from not returning? Also I do not understand how she moved to stage 4 just because of the pleural effusion and the rest of the organs being fine.
