Hi, I'm new to all this but here goes. First of all, sorry about your illness and I hope you feel better soon. Secondly, are you aware that your boss can get himself into big trouble with his attitude? As a cancer sufferer you are covered by the Disability Discrimination Act. This wally is a disgrace to mankind. My partner is currently suffering from colorectal cancer and his experience with his boss has been the complete opposite of yours. Since diagnosis in Sept 2010, he has only taken time off when absolutely necessary but so far, he's had full pay and boss has never requested a sick note from him. He's due to have surgery to remove tumour soon and I understand the recovery may be long and slow. Once again, boss has insisted he doesnt worry, full pay will continue and his job is safe. I do wish that you can find an employer like him yourself when you're well. Best wishes. Nicky xx

I think your boss sounds like the King who tried to command the tide not to come in, (he drowned if you remember.)

If only cancer could be cured by shouting at it or the poor individual who is suffering.

I can imagine if you are running a small business where every employee matters, especially you Alan, it must get quite frustrating to have someone off sick. However Nicky is right he does have to be aware of his obligations towards you under the Equality Act 2010 which came into force on 1st October 2010.He particularly needs to make sure he is not breaching the provisions dealing with harassment. I think I would send him a copy www.equalities.gov.uk/equality_act_2010.aspx

Best wishes from a country that has no such legislation,

    Charles

  • Sounds like the guy has a 'Caligula' syndrome! And guess what happened to him?

All power to your elbow and I hope that guy gets his comeuppance!

    Hi Alan

Yes agree with the others - but I am less polite - the guy is a silly ignorant twat who need to understand a bit of humanity.

Not too sure it will help, But I live in Rochdale - recon you are in The Royal Oldam ? I am in there on Friday for some results, mind a brief visit and we can use even more plain English Thou knoos ?

Never let the bu**ers grind you down !!
