Anyone else had high toxicity response to the dual immunotherapy ?

Less than one minute read time.

Hi after just 2 doses, I ended up in Hospital for 2 weeks whilst they pumped me full of steroids and tried to get the toxicity under control.....they are now say they don’t want to continue treatment and I was wondering if anyone else has had similar side effects and what happened to them.........obviously I want the best chance possible

  • Hi Jules Somerset

Sorry to see you joining us in this particular club :(

Can you add what type of cancer and dual immunotherapy treatments you are asking about so anyone with similar issues could reply and help ? As there are nearly always different drug regimes as a back up.

There are also groups for most cancers here you could check out and join to get in contact for some peer support if you select the 'Groups' button at the top of the page.

Hope this is of some help to get you the support and advice you deserve.

    Take care, G n' J

I have stage 4 metatstic melenoma ( that is melenoma that has spread to multiple locations). There is only one dual immunotherapy I am aware of and that isipilimumab/nivolumab combination My toxity attacked my main organs, liver, kidney lungs etc. And only high doses of steroids. Which they are still trying to taper off stopped it. Now they are saying they do not want to continue treatment.....

  • Hi Jules Somerset

That is a tough piece of news to be given :(

I was going to suggest the Melanoma Group but noticed you just joined - 'good move'

New members tend to be wary when first joining a group, but do start a New Discussion mentioning the above to see if any other members have had similar issues with the same immunotherapy regime and been offered alternatives.

It is a quite active (and friendly) group so you should soon get some supportive and hopefully informative replies.

    Take care, G n' J
