Update about 7 weeks post radio now

Less than one minute read time.
I've stopped counting, so that must mean it's lots better. Had a dentist appointment on Tuesday. He was the one who originally referred me. He's checked my teeth and prescribed me some mouth was and extra floride toothpaste and I'm back in 2 weeks where he is going to do a gentle clean. I'm working a lot more now, almost 4 days a week. I do notice how much I'm suffering with the dry mouth when I'm at work. Disaster - chocolate buttons seem to make a large blister like lump appear down by my gum. Not happy! All other ulcers have gone now. I'm eating well still, but am going for things with sauces. It's tricky chewing, and I find I'm swallowing stuff without it being properly chewed. I'm hoping to make contact with a head and neck support group that is based at a local hospital. Be nice to meet people who have been on similar journeys.

Hello DLC ... glad that you are moving on even more now, it's been a long-haul for you. I went to see dental hygienist yesterday ( not one of my most enjoyable appointments ! ) and she has told me to ' up ' my daily fluoride with an extra mouth rinse at midday. Do ask your dentist about painting your teeth with a fluoride gel , the same as is used on children, as it may help to protect your teeth even more. Dry mouth at work ... try using a dry mouth spray as they are very convenient and the effects tend to last a bit longer than sips of water. I find the A.S Saliva Orthana is very good and unlike some sprays it does contain fluoride ... you can order it from Boots chemist or get it on a prescription from your GP. Worth a try x
