Old scars- neck, wrist and stomach

1 minute read time.
Just thought I'd do an update on the original operation scars as you kind of forget about them during all that comes with RT. I have been applied a gel like cream called dermatix since the scars lost the scabs. This is pretty expensive gel, but came on prescription. There is a website on how it is supposed to work. I think it's been pretty good stuff. I didn't apply it to my neck during RT but have continued on the wrist and stomach. The actual patch on my wrist has flattened down really well. The skin has actually joined up really well although there is a dip in the middle of it. The end of the "worm" part of the scar is quite tight, and pulls a little, that probably the most uncomfortable part, but it's ok. The ski at the base of my thumb towards my wrist is still quite numb. The stomach scar is quite flat but did widen out and is quite red. It isn't at all uncomfortable though. One end does stick up a tiny bit, think they called it a dogs ear! The lump I had in the middle of my neck has gone down but the side of the neck scar is quite sore because of the RT, and the area on the side feels quite solid. Once the bits that got burned are a little better I'll go back to the dermatix on the neck too.

Hello DLC ... just to say that the scars will eventually get better even though you may find some numb-ish areas, I also have one of those at the base of my thumb. As my scars have all healed over I use Bio-oil as it helps with the ' tightness '  particularly on a cold day.

Here's a poster that I found on Facebook, it helped me ... Joycee x
