Cml carer

Less than one minute read time.

Recently found out my fiance has cml he started his treatment today after having his bone marrow test yday and wowwwww what an experience that was

He is absolutely petrified of needles so it took 6 nurses to calm him down and that was just for his blood test

Anyway skip to an hour later we go in for his bone marrow test and he's crying his eyes out i just don't no how to comfort him in goes the first needle he let's out a scream then for the big one he yells I start crying.

Next min the fantastic nurse tells us its all over and bammmmm I fall straight to the floor i am so very proud of him that was such a huge step in this long road to recovery but overcoming that needle fear was so brave of him I have never been prouder of him

I have been the same with those needles.  I have recently been diagnosed with CML and had to have the bone marrow and bone scrape.  The Doctors had to abort the first attempt after giving me about six injections and me still jumping, sweating and crying out in pain.  They came back on the Monday and things went a little better because they did the injections and then gave me gas in air which seemed to help, although I could still feel the pain of the needles and the procedure pain down my leg.  I feel like a complete wuss, but it is just the way that I am.  I am a female aged 57 who has never been ill really in her life so came as a big shock to me.  I have been told that my CML is treatable and I am hoping that this is the case for your partner.  Just to say that that bone marrow extraction is not nice at all.  Good luck for the future.
