Another week passes

1 minute read time.

Well I had my PET scan last Wednesday but due to the fact that the MDT team only meet on Thursday mornings means I won't be discussed until this coming Thursday.

I'm getting anxious about the results and the implications if my cancer has spread to the left side of my liver or elsewhere. The delays are weighing heavy. I'm certainly not getting enough sleep and feel that any delays will not help.

I'm not looking forward to my chemotherapy but just want to move forwards.

On the plus side I am trying to get more exercise, A very good friend has encouraged me to walk daily. That plus working on my allotment (Yes I know I can bore for England when it comes to raising veg!) has meant that I do feel fitter apart from these nasty things growing inside me.

Also the people at work have been excellent. I have been working as usual which I have found to be a great help in creating a 'normal' life and I intend to continue working, whenever possible, during my treatment. Time will tell if this is possible. I've read that chemo can be very draining physically. Is this always the case? Work have kindly offered me a laptop to be able to work from home with the proviso that I only work when I feel fit enough.

I have at times been overwhelmed with the support, good wishes and prayers that people have given me. To you all a huge thank you.

So now it's back to waiting. I don't think I'll hear anything until Thursday at the earliest and I'll update as soon as I hear anything.

Thanks for listening.

Treatment will stat sooner than you think, but I know how you feel - I hated the waiting and just wanted to be getting on with it. I was diagnosed at the end of May last year and my treatment started on June 29.

I had a combined chemo and radiation treatment (for anal cancer) and had the chemo on a pump that came home with me in the first and fifth week.

I am self-employed and work from home. I carried out working, albeit reduced hours, throughout the treatment so it is possible. But listen to your body - it effects everyone differently, but radiotherapy does tend to cause fatigue; apparently it's the body diverting energy to mend the 'good' cells that have been blasted. I would have a nap for around an hour when I got back from hospital.

    All the best.
