update from shivery sam

1 minute read time.
update , i got my partner to ring out of hours and they were totally usless leaving me really confused, told them about the symptoms and they said it was fine because 101.5 now 101.8 is on the low side of high ,thats ok then.totally contradicting the info i've been given by cancerbackup and the hospital chemo sheet i quote' phone immediatly if your temp reaches over 100'' phone immediatly if you can't stop shivering' i was told by the lovely lady tapping her keyboard on the other side of the phone to phone the chemo dept , but it doesn't sound like an infection. so this has left me totally dispondant and giving earache to my partner, i've told him not to ring the hospital and i think he's gone into hiding since i told him i wasn't going to chemo on wednesday ,and to send the hospital my digital thermometer to stick where the sun don't shine. three months ago i was a mature mother of 5 now i'm reduced to having temper tantrums thanks to everyone for there messages of support i don't know what i would do without' what now 'at the momment. hopefully my boyfriend will come out of hiding and i will feel better in the morning

I know I shouldn't have Sammie, but when I read the bit about you giving your boyfriend the thermometer and telling him to send it to the hospital etc etc, I laughed out loud. Then I laughed again when you said how you were once a mature Mother of 5 and now you're having temper tantrums. So, look at the happiness you've spread! Maybe unintentional, but hey, that's the great thing about life, cancer hasn't removed our sense of humour, and even the way you write your Blog is very "tongue in cheek".

Oh Sammie the road's bloody hard, but it will get less rocky as we go along. I AM GENUINELY sorry that you are having such a rough ride at the moment, but sweetheart, I truly thank you for giving me something to laugh at this morning. I hope you have a good day today, and keep us posted. with love, hugs and xxxxxxxxxx's kate

Why haven't you rung the chemo department?  If you have a temperature, it means you have to ring the department pronto and ask to speak to the Oncology registrar on duty.  This is important.  Don't delay.

I am sorry you are going through it.  You need to have support, and being somewhat volatile myself I wasn't amused that much by your advice to stick the thermometer.

Make a record of how it is progressing and how fast it is rising.  If you don't get any response on the phone, go there and insist on being seen.  Call an ambulance.
