beaten up by chemicals.

1 minute read time.

Wow, I had my 4th chemo and first Herceptin last week... and have felt like I've been beaten up since saturday. What a complete change in side effects .. I've gone from metal tasting and nausea to crawling up the stairs and shuffling about like an old age pensioner. My understanding of the phase my bones ache is much more compassionate now I have seen last week off. I have been soo lucky up to now really, I suppose it had to catch up sooner or later!! I have been careful but have loads of mouth ulcers this time and lady luck deceided to give me a dose of oral thrush on top.. thanks soo much for that eh lol ..

So been feeling bit low this week... in bad need of a cuppa tea ... which I haven't been able to stomach all week or chocolate... which I really have had enough of this week already, at this rate I'll have nothing left that fits in my wardrobe at all!! I'm dreading going shopping for summer stuff... gonna be hard to find stuff that will hide the scar from my masectomy..still don't have a bra I really like either... I'm gonna see about getting a nice gentle massage next week I think and maybe get my nails done aswell. As for the mid-rift... I'll work on that another day XX

Hi, I remember the 4th chemo being pretty bad, but the 5th and 6th better - don't be afraid to take painkillers! I've recently had my 9th herceptin and feel pretty good. The weight from the steroids went reasonably quickly (inc the hamster face), so try not to despair too much about that. The mastectomy is pretty weird to cope with - can't say I'm any further forward with a decent bra! I wear scarves most days to drape around that area (and have lighter ones for when it's warmer).

Defo go for some treats, it's sometimes the small things that get you through!

    Good luck! Bx

Hi ladies I was wondering if any of you could tell me about the bone pain I'm getting following my GCSF injection. Had first one last night and have had pelvic/hip and thigh pain all day. Suppose I was kidding myself that it would only last a few hours but now I'm waiting for my friend, a nurse to come round and give me another injection. Does anyone know if the amount just carries on like this? Not sure I can tolerate another 9 days of constant pain! Been advised not to take paracetamol - actually told categorically not to, or ibuprofen as it can mask signs of infection. Only thing allowed it seems is codeine which makes me horrendously constipated.. Help!! Had my first block of Taxotere chemo on Friday without any real effect other than a slight metallic taste so this pain is a real , well pain lol!! Thank you lovely ladies. I Soooo admire your humour, strength and fortitude. I know being in this community is going to help me immeasurably!
