My Journey so far with stage 4 advanced kidney cancer

1 minute read time.

Hi,  Just thought I'd write this for anyone interested, and just to recap, was diagnosed in feb 2009 with advanced kidney cancer & Mets to the Lymph nodes adrenal gland gall bladder, liver & lung tissue, I had radical nephrectomy and removal of kidney adrenal, gall bladder lung and liver tissue.  Had Avastin and interferon 6 weeks after surgery, had to come off it as went into a hypertensive crisis, which was the worst part of the journey as was so ill, having lumber punctures while throwing up, and the worst headache imaginable and blood pressure so high I should be dead!! My treatment was stopped and refered to Thames Hospice Care through the macmillan nurse.  Obviously my family were in turmol, my son failed his exams at school and my mum and dad and gran became very depressed.  My husband however has been my rock and I thank him and my girls and son for being there for me, and the torment they must have gone through at the thought of loosing there mum.  I was given a very short time to live, but obviously they could not say how long, but somehow did pull through and got better and better and put on weight, I'm now nearing the second year in remmission, and yesterday had the best news ever is that my scan shows No active tumours or cancer, and I'm now actually planning things for the future! During this terrible time came good as now have 2 new grandchildren and my daughter has set a date for her wedding next May 2012 which is going to be a big affair in our local church!!  I hope my story gives some inspirational hope to those diagnosed with advanced cancer like me. xx
