Coming soon! It's Party Season….

Less than one minute read time.

Party Conference season that is.  It’s the time for Ciarán Devan, Macmillan's Chief Executive, and most of the Public Affairs Team to break free from the office for three weeks.  We will be travelling around the country to push our campaigning messages with the three main political parties.  Top of the list will be our three Vote Cancer Support campaign calls – post treatment care plans for all cancer survivors, better access to drug treatments for people with rarer cancers, and 24/7 access to a community nurse for patients who are terminally ill.

Starting this Monday we will post a daily blog giving you the highlights from the conferences, as well as a summary of the latest news and thinking around issues that will have an impact on people affected by cancer and Macmillan.  We will also be tweeting about what goes on at our fringe events which this year will focus on survivorship.

We would like you to be involved as well.  Please join in the debate and let us know your thoughts and comments.

I have attended the TUC and Labour Party conferences for many years - haven't been since about 1998 but I envy you. There is an awful lot of information out there and a number of opportunities to gain access to a lot of influential people. Good luck with your endeavours.

    Keep smiling

    Hi Drew

if im honest i am very excited, its feels a bit like uni and freshers week - only i hope to come away a lot more knowledgable.

I'm going to need to blog just to get all the information out of my head to make room for the next day.

So as a seasoned pro at this, what are your tips? Dos and donts so to speak. I am already stocking up on flat shoes, plasters and a whole range of high sugar foods that i can use to keep me going all day.

And yes, i guess keep smiling is definitely the best tip of all!

    Hope you enjoy the blogs
