By Amyq93:

My name is Amy, I'm 19, and living with cancer. Sadly, six young people between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.

Luckily, the Teenage Cancer Trust are there to help us each step of the way. They are fantastic. I am treated in a specialist unit for young adults - it helps to know you're not alone. We can have fun together and just forget about what's going on in our silly bodies for a while.

I have felt really overwhelmed at times, like I have no control over what is happening to my body, like I can't fight back. This is what prompted the idea to organize a concert to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, I wanted to feel like I was fighting back! I chose to have a concert to raise the money because I am a singer and so are many of my good friends, so I knew they would help me do this. Singing is what I do, and it never fails to make me happy, it has got me through the worst of times.

Despite the fact the concert isn't until 5 June, we have been busy, busy, busy organising the event. I decided to choose a cheese-tastic name for the concert: “Sing if You Wanna Beat Cancer!”

We will be getting a fair amount of attention from local media, and I want to use the opportunity to raise as much money as possible. I want to share my story with others, and let them know young people get cancer too. In fact, one of the most painful realisations I have taken from my experience is that most teenagers are misdiagnosed to begin with because they are young.

We all know that the longer it goes undiagnosed, the lower the chances of beating it are. Many teenagers have died because it was just too late, but this could have been prevented. I want to get this message across to other young people - it can happen at any age. If I had any advice, it would be that if you feel like something is wrong with you, then you're most likely right, but you must be persistent.

There are a variety of acts that will be performing at the event, from rock to musical theatre - there truly is something for everyone! If we sell out all the tickets, we will have about £1500, but why stop there? We are selling loads of merchandise and, most importantly, I have raised £1285 on the fundraising page alone. This is one of the best ideas I ever had - it keeps my mind off the cancer, and I do feel like I am fighting back, not just for myself, but for everyone like me.
