My story.

2 minute read time.

I just want to say Thank you to Macmillan and there amazing nursers, back in 2011, around Easter time, my grandad was diagnosed with cancer, it broke my heart, I was only 13 and did not realise how serious cancer actually is, but I do now.

My grandads cancer spread and we found out his cancer was terminal, he was only given a few weeks to live, he died the 19th August 2011. Me and my family and most of all my Grandad only had a few months to get our heads around this, my grandad had chemo, lost a lot of weight, it broke my heart seeing him that way, but he was still always so happy, telling his jokes, I miss that.
The Macmillan nurses were amazing with my grandad, my nain and my family, so me and my cousins decided to raise money for Macmillan, we felt like we needed to give something back, our first fundraising event was on the 22nd September 2012, it was at my dads old pub in Wrexham, it was a fun day, we had a bouncy castle, cakes, raffle prizes and games.

The first fundraising event was a success, everyone had so much fun and most importantly we raised a good amount of money. Mine and my cousins second event was a charity fundraising night at a local club called the BIC, we sold cakes, raffles, event had performances of Tom who was on Got To Dance! We had people singing and dancing, this one was also a success!

The photo below is of Tom and my cousin Shola.

Our most recent event was 14th April 2014, we decided to walk from Wrexham Maelor hospital to Llangollen, we all had sponsor forms, t-shirts that Macmillan sent us, and a bucket! People stopped in their cars to give us money, it was truly touching. Overall it took us 6 hours and we raised over £400, there was only about 15 of us! This was the best one, no matter how much we wanted to give up because the heat was so bad and we were all so tired, we did it. Thank you to everyone who took part in memory of my grandad.

I am the brown headed girl with the white trainers on in the front, the girl to the left of me is my cousin Kenzi and the girl above me in the glasses is my cousin Shola.

This year at my college which is Coleg Cambria Yale, our chosen charity across all the campus's is Macmillan, and on Monday me and my friends in my class are going to do a game called ''Name the teddy'' I hope a lot of students and tutors in the college have ago because it would be great to raise as much money as we can.

I hope my grandad is so proud of me and my cousins because I know I am.

Thank you for reading xxxx
