Gp said nothing sinister and then took 3 months to be removed!

1 minute read time.

I have decided to write this blog as I find this journey a lonely one. Most people don't want to talk about it or hear about it. I think maybe this helps my love ones handle it but there is so much waiting involved I'm finding it lonely . I hope to find others maybe going through the same thing to talk to.

It started when i noticed a growth on my stomach so booked in to see my Gp.  She said it was more than likely a wart and need it shaved off . It was nothing 'sinister' so off I went fine . I put it to the back of my mind. Then three months later I received an appointment to have it removed. Hassle free they shaved it off and I was able to enjoy Christmas.

Then In the new year I got a letter to see a doctor to get the results all the normal process I thought well I suppose everything must get tested.  Sat in the doctors on my own thinking about how I could go shopping straight after. Then I must say I was shocked the doctor said it wasn't expected as it was colourless hence the term a-malignant melanoma and if they had any idea it would have been that it would have originally been removed sooner and with a different procedure.

From this point on I was asigned a consultant at the hospital. Four weeks later I had a large deep area removed around the original melanoma site. Also a ct scan and lymph node biopsy.

Then after a lot of waiting I have been informed that unfortunately it has spread to the lymph nodes in my left side armpit breast area .

I'm to go in to have all these lymph nodes removed on Fri 13th may and I'm petrified.

Hi I can understand your worry. I had a similar shock in Feb and am now 10wks post op from lymph nodes being removed left armpit.

The surgery wasn't too scary and the recovery was slow but all ok now.

I would urge you to look for support as it does help.

You should've now been allocated a specialist skin care nurse, phone him or her, ask questions, tell her your worries.
