esophagectomy

Less than one minute read time.

Hi My name is Jan I am near 68 and have just been diagnosed with stage1b esophageal cancer.everyone keeps telling me how brave I am how amazing etc etc...but I am not.I know people are trying to say kind things but I wish they would understand I have no choice. It is modern technology and surgeons and drugs that keep us alive.I also have no desire to sit in a corner and cry. I think we have to always remain totally positive and forward thinking, that doesn't mean to say I am not frightened I am and at the moment cannot seem to find many positive views about after the op.Pisitive views welcome

Hi hopertone dont know if this is any help. I was also diagnosed with oesophageal cancer graded 1b. I was offered a cancer research trial called neoscope. This meant i had 6 weeks of chemo followed be 5 weeks of chemo with radiotherapy on a diferent chemo drug. Then waited 8 weeks and had an ivor lewis oesophagectomy operation came through that ok. Had op on 1st sept 2014. Feeling ok but still have nerve pain so it takes tme to recover but good luck
