Information and advice please

Less than one minute read time.

Hi, I've just been diagnosed with Stage 3C Endometrioid Ovarian Cancer. I had my surgery on April 2nd, and have to see an Oncologist and start Chemotherapy in about a month, when I'm stronger. I would like any information and advice on what to expect with the Chemo, and what sort of side effects I'm likely to have, and how to overcome them.

Thanks, Sally.

Hiya Sally...chemo effects us all o differently, there are so many chemo availiable you need to ask your medical what to expect my lovely. I am not going to do a side effects list because that may not apply to you as it did for me (late stage ovarian cancer) and you don't need to worry when there may be no need. Like I aid my sweet ask your chemo nurse and onc, they should prepare you and if they don't then say, what is this that and the other. I wish you well love and hope you do well...love Carol xx

    Hi Sally,

100% with Carol there, everyone reacts differently and each chemo is different. Do you already know what chemo you are going to get? I was on carbo/taxol for late stage ovarian cancer. I had lots of nausea (despite 3 different drugs) but did not loose my hair, I was told that most people react the other way around. I was also quite tired and needed a lot of sleep.

If you read the list of all the side effects you can get, it is scary, but you will not necessarily get all the side effects. Nurses are the ones to ask about side effects and who can best provide advice on how to cope (better than doctors...) and as you get along with your treatment you can always ask your McMillan buddies depending on what's happening with you.

Stay strong and positive! Good luck with the recovery from the op. It's unfortunately quite a long haul...

Take it easy and listen to your body. This is a time when you need to be selfish and focus on yourself.

    xxx Liz

Hi Sally.  every time I have  a new drug (now had 5 different ones!) the onc makes sure I have the printed page from macmillan with th full deails and side effects on.  As eveyone says, each oneis different, but stay positive and take each day as it comes.  do what your body tells you, and if you feel like a rest have one.

    Good luck

    Love n hugs
