PET scan - the wait!

1 minute read time.

So I had my PET Scan 2 days ago on my 45th birthday. I can't deny it was the worst birthday I've ever had plus I've got a cold. I'm thoroughly miserable it has to be said.

I have read into every detail that has happened subsequently and can only think the worst. Having had the scan I was told to get dressed and then 'we'd have a look at the photos'. I then came out and was immediately told I could go - I said 'and the results?'  - 'they will go to you doctor' accompanied by sympathetic look. My doctor at the hospital happened to ring me in the afternoon about something else I was worrying about but couldn't give me the scan results because their systems were down! (He wouldn't have known I'd had the scan if I hadn't told him.)  He said ' didn't they give you the results afterwards?' and then went on to say it would be by the end of the week.  I pushed him a little on it and he said he'd try and ring yesterday - no call. no call as yet today.

Is this normal to wait, they did originally say 48hours so I am trying to keep calm but I just feel awful!

I really am trying to be positive but as time goes on I'm finding it very hard

No one is ringing me as I said I'd let them know and when the phone does ring, I jump a mile! so we are here in no man's land waiting , waiting.

Do I ring the specialist nurse- do I attempt to ring the hospital or do I just wait?
