Are you sitting comfortably? Well I am now!!!

2 minute read time.
Way back in January when it was ffffffreezing cold and no weather to be messing about with cars I took my car off the road at M.O.T time because I really wasn't up to doing what was needed to keep it in use. I bought a little cheapy piece of ...... (think of a word that rhymes with white) Escort off my brother in law to toddle about in for a short time. However, as is always the way, I got a bit better as work started to increase and that short time started to stretch into a marathon and the poor thing sat in the corner of our yard at work, all lonely and looking forlorn. So a little while back I kickstarted myself into motion and set to work. In truth I couldn't stand driving that little roller skate Escort any longer. I missed my luxuries such as the automatic gearbox, air con, leather seats and so on and on. Now that's not a boast or anything, it's 11 years old and not worth a light if I wanted to trade it against another motor, but I love it to bits and want to keep it for as long as possible. And other petrolheads will understand - it's a Cosworth. So today is a good day. I will be able to sit in a seat that is moulded to my ample a**e have lovely cold air blowing on me and best of all NO CLUTCH so I can give this useless left leg a rest. And that's just as well because I am having more and more trouble with my back and leg, I am still having a lot of pain in my chest from the suspected Gynaecomastia and it has now started to be noticeable on my right side as well. I am awaiting results of blood tests for that. I had to ask my local PCOS to chase up the hospital for a date for my MRI scan and they were able to find out it would be sometime in July. Unfortunately they didn't say which year. That department doesn't seem to be anywhere as good as the oncology department. The down side is I'm back to 21 miles per gallon, but what the hell, my feeble efforts aren't going to stop the planet burning up. And what I would save by changing over to a horrible little eurobox car would be massively negated by the carbon burnt making it. So by not buying a car they don't have to make it. I'm saving the planet in my own little way. I'm off to Chester Zoo tomorrow with a primary school group. The last time as I was there they had (in the cafe) some kind of hash brown thing in the shape of various animals. Does anyone else see a paradox with a zoo boasting about their animal conservation efforts and then giving children food, in the shape of animals, to eat? It's very similar to the government shouting about the waste from 4x4 cars to justify doubling the road tax. Who runs the biggest fleet of 4x4's in the country? Yes, it's the same government who run hundreds of them all over the motorway network with Highways Officers sat in them looking important but doing nothing. Am I just a square peg in a round hole, or are other people seeing the same nonsense in our wonderful country. Come the revolution I'll be first to show them the wall to stand against.

  • Hi

Fully understand your desire to jump back into your cosworth, bet that engine makes a nice sound so on a bad day just sit in it and listen to those notes it plays and bet it puts a smile on your face.

21 mpg is good when I let rip in my car it drops to 12 mpg but hey what price to smile.
