Very sore mouth after round 1 of epi-cmf

Less than one minute read time.

Well im very tired and grumpy only had about 2 hours sleep because im in so much pain with my mouth!!!

I stupidly thought round 1 of chemo wouldnt have that many side effects on me.... How wrong was i!!! And to think that they will get worse :-(

Im off to the doctors this morning to see if they can give me a stronger mouthwash, if the effects are going to get worse then on the plus side i will be a size 10 by the time chemos up lol. What i would give to wake up and have a cuppa instead of a mouthfull of oraldene first!!!

All the people on chat have been fantastic reccomending different meds to ease the effects of chemo and im not leaving the docs today until they give me some difflam as that seems to work well for people!!

Hope your all well, sorry for moaning but ARGHHHHHH it hurts :-( and thought this might make me feel better :-)

Take care,

Emma xx :-)

I have been using difflam and it does help. Also if you have mouth ulcers, I found that Anbesol is good because it numbs the whole area, (like the dentists) its not very expensive and lasts for ages. Good Luck, Lisa x

Hi Emma, definatly get some Difflam and also the Anbesol. I have just been reading your journey and that was awful about the Hickman line, i had one and the the sedatives just sent me straight to sleep, it was like having a general anthestic for me. It is so much better have the line put in, no pain at all from those nasty needles, not even for blood tests, wonderful!!!!!

Take lots of care Love Kaz x

OMG what a joke today has been!! Went to the doctors for nothing, they didnt have a clue what they could give me for my sore mouth and spent most of the time on the internet and reading books trying to find something to prescribe me!!! They said they was unable to help me and to go and ring my team!!

So home i went feeling rather pissed off that i would probably have to go to the hospital to get something for it, rang oncology to be told there was a bomb scare at the hospital and so they was unable to see me, was then told to ring my district/mac nurse for some advice!!

Well had i of been face to face with her i probably would of hugged her lol shes ringing my doctors now to do me a prescription for some Difflam, Gelclair and Fluconazole (which i believe is for infection) in the meantime im to take painkillers as i dont have ulcers just very swollen and sore gums which is making my teeth and generally my whole mouth hurt!!! Feels like stinging nettles or something!!

Anyway hopefully i can go and get my prescription tonight and maybe have some food and sleep better! :-)

    Thanx all for your messages

    Emma xx :-)
