I had my first chemo on Friday 23 April 2021 and by the end of the chemo the nurse told me to be careful in the house not to use the same toilet or bath. I am trying my best to keep clean and disinfect everything I touch so my husband and son are kept safe. I only have one toilet seat and a bath.
In addition, I would like all of us to raise or campaign to make it compulsory to have biopsy for women aged 30 and not only after 50s year of age.
Any tips or suggestion I would welcome. Thank you everyone and good luck.
Thank you for your post today, I’m Eliza from the Community team at Macmillan. I’d just like to firstly wish you another warm welcome to the Online Community, I’m glad you’ve reached out on the site for support.
It sounds like you might find it helpful to talk to our Macmillan nurse specialists, who can provide some more guidance around sharing a bathroom while you’re going through chemotherapy. It sounds like your concern around keeping safe might be a lot to cope with alongside your treatment, and I hope that our nurses might be able to provide some reassurance. You can contact our nurses on Support Line over email, live webchat or by calling 0808 808 00 00 7 days a week, 8am-8pm.
We’d also always recommend getting back in touch with your medical team or GP if you have further questions or concerns while you’re going through your treatment.
Lots of members talk about chemotherapy here on the Online Community. If you’d like to hear other members’ experiences and find support, why not take a look through our list of groups to find one that you feel matches your situation just now? We’re also more than happy to help you find the right group for you here on the site, if you’d like to let us know more information about your diagnosis.
I’d also just like to let you know, Ardi, that I’m afraid that our Community guidelines kindly ask that members don’t conduct any petitions or fundraising campaigns on the Online Community. This is because the site is focused on peer support, and we feel that campaigns would take away from this focus. However if you would like to explore Macmillan’s campaigns and how you could get involved, please take a look on our “Campaign with us” website page.
I hope that you’ll find comfort and support here on the Online Community. Please don’t hesitate to let us know here or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org if there’s anything further we can do to support you, or if you have any questions at all.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
