I can't sleep

Hello,

I'm up at stupid o clock again! It's so frustrating I think I could be so much better if I could sleep through he night. I seem to be awake every couple of hours either I'm too hot or I have to go to the bathroom I'm so annoyed with myself.

When I do wake up my back and legs are so sore from lying I have to get up and once I'm up and moving the pain disappears.

I'm just emotional as well I just want to sleep through the night.

I'm still waiting for results after my operation which was on 29th March so that is 3 weeks I should have heard by now the Doctor said it should take about 2 weeks

Hi Catwoman, the middle of the night is a very lonely time isn't it ,allows your mind to go to places you would rather not go .Lack of sleep really doesn't help your mood either does it ?You should surely be getting an appointment soon ?I have one for 3rd May which will be just over 3 weeks after op .The "limbo land " post op is hard .zHopefully you will get good news and you will soon have a wonderful peaceful nights sleep .

PS is it worth ringing up Specialist Nurse about your appointment ,they may be able to chase it up for you .

Good Morning 64scouse

I have actually been thinking about phoning to find out what is happening. I am going to give them until tomorrow and if I haven't heard I'm going to phone the nurse.

If I need any more treatment I want to know asap so I can get my head round it.

The middle of the night is just so lonely and as you said your head goes to places it really shouldn't

Hi Joyce subconsciously you are worried about your results. I think your sleep will improve once you know. I think it's common to have chase results. my surgeon always says no news is good news I hope this is the case for you.

Hi Joyce,

I think its normal to be worried anxious for the results, I got mine 11 days later on post op check up. If it helps to put your mind at rest perhaps call them tomorrow. Try to use this period to get well and strong again. Sleep is a problem for a lot of ladies I think. I slept the first couple of nights home then awake . I used to read or watch dvd  . Hope thing improve for you soon .and you get your results soon.

In the mean time here is some hugs (((HUGS)))

Love Elaine xx

Hello CrazyCatWoman

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping -lying awake at silly o' clock is rubbish and it's something I still do from time to time. I will be thinking about you as you ring tomorrow and hoping that you get some answers. Big hugs -stay strong.

I am a great worrier! Waking in the middle of the night every night! I can't help it, it just happens.

Fed up with my mind churning stuff over and over, I put in my ear buds and listen to the radio or sometimes an audio book. My iPad has a timer on so I set it for 30 mins. I am usually back to sleep in far less time than this! It stops me thinking and is company.

Also have some sleeping tablets from doctor which work well and don't wake up groggy, but prefer my method!

Try not to worry about not sleeping and try and catch up with a few ZZZZZZZs during the day.

Hi Crazycatwoman

14 weeks post operation and I still wake during the night - I too seem to have lost the ability to sleep through the night - quite possibly hormones or lack of them !!!

I would definitely give your team a ring to chase up results - I waited 3 weeks and it feels like forever - give them a ring tomorrow xxx

Take care Carol x

I phoned the hospital this morning ans they were going to phone back with a phone number for me but within an hour the specialist nurse phoned me and asked if I could attend an appointment at 2pm on Monday and I said yes.

She then said we will discuss your plan but not to worry about anything!

Now I am worrying lol but at least I will know what to do next.

Hi Joyce

It's good that you rang and now have an appointment on Monday - at least you will know exactly what the plan will be xxx There is no point in me saying "don't worry" because you will anyway xxx I have my fingers and toes crossed for you x

Thank goodness you now have an appointment! I know you will still worry but if you can plan one or two little treats for over the weekend to try & distract your mind. Will be thinking about you on Monday & hoping that everything will be explained fully and you will feel confident in the proposed treatment plan. Sending you positive thoughts for a good meeting and for peace of mind as you wait x
