Thank you all for your comments on the previous thread. Mom wants chemo and I support her decision within reason. We were told rhe tumour was small and therefore only warranted radiotherapy however we have seen where others are offered chemo. This is a high grade disease with very high recurrance so you can understand our concerns. All insights welcome and thanks to those who responded on the previous thread. It's been weighing on our minds. For those of you who have been treated for serous endometrial carcinoma what do you think.

  • Hi . We can understand your concerns but your Mum is in the best hands at the Royal Marsden they are in the forefront of cancer care. They've offered radiation treatment with the back-up of chemo should a CT scan after the treatment prove necessary. I must admit we're all a bit puzzled as to why you seem to be questioning the experts (which they are)

I'm sure if your Mum, not you, is insistent on wanting chemo they will consider her request. I know you've got her best interests at heart so I understand your concerns. Especially since my cancer Stage 1b/grade 3 serous metastasised. I've had 6 sessions of chemo and I will need treatment again. I've learned to live with the fact my cancer is incurable but treatable. I live every day to the full, a permanent cure may be around the corner.

I see you've still not filled in your bio, its easy to do and helps us to offer advice knowing your mum's situation. Click on your ID and go into edit profile, you can update it any time.

  • I too have High grade Serous/ clear cell Grade 3 but mine is Stage 2 as it had spread into cervix, everything else was clear but because of the cervix I am in Chemoradiation which is generally used for cervical cancer then brachytherapy done as per uterine cancer rather than cervical which is a longer more complicated process. This shows that not everyone has the same treatment regime and it is the specialists decision as to which is best for the individual. I don’t know the Marsden but do know it’s a highly regarded cancer specialist centre so if I were in your mums shoes, and I’m about the same age I would listen to them, Chemo can be very hard if you read some of the experiences on here, I had my first onThursday and to date have no side effects but it’s early days and I’m having a very different chemo to most. At the end of the day it’s your mums decision but why go through something deemed unnecessary - unless the CT results make it so.

Hope you can both soon be settled in your minds
