Anyone else been diagnosed with this- I am gutted - bad enough me having cancer but to potentially pass it onto my daughters is heartbreaking
Hi Wilma, they tested me for Lynch Syndrome because my biopsy showed a deficiency in one of the Lynch Syndrome genes. I had a subsequent blood test which confirmed this. My parents have been tested and i have inherited it from my dad. My daughter had her test last week and it takes 4 weeks to get her results. My son is being tested this week.

Hi Ronny and Amilly,
I was discussing this with my husband and he reminded me that my consultant had said during our consultation after my operation on the 24 May 2024 that we were not to worry about our daughter regarding genetics as she will be fine, therefore they must have tested during my biopsy regarding any genetics concerning cancer, as I was really worried about her due to her going through the removal of her right ovaries and right tube due to a 14cm abscess on her right ovary (they were unsure if it was cancer at the time as the scans had shown dark /shaded area's) but once biopsies were done everything was clear from cancer she was only 25 yrs old at the time plus she had inherited Polycystic Ovaries, Fibromyalgia, Endometriosis and IBS from me, how lucky !!!!! So worrying over for now.
As for the cancer and heart issues within my family history it's been bad luck I guess, I hope those waiting for the genetic tests get the all clear and alleviate more worries regarding cancer and our families, GOOD LUCK LADIES XXX and thank you for answering my questions.
Hi Wilma I was told they routinely test for Lynch and if anything shows up that it might be sent to genetics for DNA test and family history x
Is your daughter being tested? I have been told to get my daughters tested and my siblings as there is a 50% chance I have passed it on - it takes 12 weeks for the results to come back- I was given a letter to give to them explaining to the doctor where to send the blood
At my hospital (Southampton), it’s a standard routine part of post hysterectomy histology to do a pre-test for Lynch on ALL patients. If the pre-test is positive, then they do the full Lynch test. If not, they don’t. Mine was negative. I was tested for BRCA as well (full test) and thankfully that was negative too.
