I have been told I have a rare sarcoma called giant cell fibroblastoma which is malignant I am having a op tomorrow to have muscle removed and a flap they called it. My consultant has not seen this type of sarcoma before, which does bother me .

  • Hi and welcome to the community, though we wish nobody even needed it many find it a very good place to be.

There does not appear to be too much information available on this so not too surprising that the consultant has not seen one before. I did find this that talks about differential diagnosis between giant cell fibroblastoma and dermal sarcoma. This page also makes a distinction between gcf and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans the good news in both of these is that they tend not to spread to other areas of the body.

    Hope the surgery goes well.
