Private or NHS?

Although it pains me to say it I would go 100% private. But only for an initial appointment. You will be  seeing the same people ( the nhs staff are the best, and do private work at weekends/evenings/days off etc, your surgeon will be nhs trained and will work as an nhs surgeon) the advantages are  that although you are seeing the same people you have time to ask questions and have a discussion that you will not get on the nhs. In terms of treatment the nhs/private will be the same only the environment might be different. 
i Did both and found the nhs so stressful ( I am an early retired nhs nurse but still found it so stressful) but for long term treatment I will choose nhs. If I need to be seen quickly/have worries I will take an initial private appointment and then be referred to nhs for treatment. 

*and time frame - you will be further up the nhs ( if that is what you choose) list if you have a private initial appointment*

Yes, I am sure the NHS staff are great, however because I am a worrier and because the BCC is close to my eye...I feel I just want to get it treated asap.  Surely I would have the surgery sooner if I stick with the private guy?(he works for a private hospital in the south side of Glasgow..Ross Hall.

I do get your point, of course...that the surgeons also work for the NHS.

I still have an NHS appointment that my gp made(she indicated that it would be about a month)...so maybe(as you say) i will go to the private appointment on monday and just discuss it all with the consultant. kind regards

fully agree with Magic59, go private and then you can have surgery nhs, I had same issues, I’ve had MOHs and forehead flap surgery and am due to have flap separation on Wednesday, I saw surgeon privately then had my op 9 weeks later, with the same surgeon, whilst I was having my MOHs there was one other lady in with me and she had very similar to you, by the eye and corner of nose she was in and out within the hour she also did the same as in paid private to see surgeon, so see surgeon Monday and then go on nhs waiting list you won’t be too long waiting for your surgery.

Hi Frankie 1   Thanks so much for replying...yes I will talk to surgeon on monday, and see what he says.  Thats a little bit reassuring to hear of this other lady, with a bcc in corner of eye...mine is only tiny, according to the gp..but then there could be more underneath..who knows..just have to put it out of my mind till then.

Im not sure what flap separation is?...BUT HOPE IT ALL GOES WELL FOR YOU! GOOD LUCK

Hi Magic59 and thanks for asking. I saw the consultant down in Glasgow. He thinks it is a bcc..But only a small one(on the surface anyway, says my anxious self)    On a scale of 1 to 10 he said a 1 or 2.  I am going back down next wed  for a biopsy..he says they may get it all out there and then but if not he would do MOHs.

I expect they will analyse it in the lab and I will have to wait for results...not sure how long to wait tho.He says he will leave it to heal by secondary intention( no stitches just an open wound that will take a while to heal... use be because it’s so close to my eye and would give a better result.

yes I decided on the private route, cos getting it done sooner rather than later on the nhs is more important to me than the cost.   I’m ok waiting a week...but sure I will be a bag of nerves on the day!

That’s good you’re getting it done soon, and will be great if you get it all out at the biopsy,  it’s horrible all the waiting and anxiety. I hope it goes well for you all the best xx
