Husband is now 7 weeks post radical prostatectomy. Recovery seems to be going well. They were able to spare one side of nerves and already able to maintain an erection hard enough for penetration which we are extremely thankful for, however the incontinence is getting him down. Is he expecting too much too soon? Pretty much dry through the night and first thing in the morning, but leaks quite a bit when moving around. He is doing his kegel exercises every day. Is there anything else he can do to help or does this recovery sound quite normal and he just has to be a bit patient?
thanks for reading.
I’m about the same stage with the same issues . I’m in France and I’m going to the physio this afternoon to start 20 sessions of pelvic re-education, which involves a probe up my bum to stimulate muscles and to measure how well I do kegels. Will let you know how it goes . Bill
Sorry . It was fine . After the probe was inserted , they found a comfortable current level and I had 15 minutes of intermittent stimulation . I then had to control my own contraction with the pressure generated displayed on screen .
ive also stopped alcohol and caffeine . Probably coincidentally things have been great since yesterday afternoon-next session Friday , where we’ll increase duration and strength of contractions .
Slightly sceptical, but we’ll see.
best wishes , Bill
Hi - yes expecting too much to soon ! - he seems to be making great progress and you are doing everything fine but only a few get dry in weeks for most its many months but most get there in the end
Hi Bill, sorry only just saw your message. I’ll be sure to show him this . Glad it’s worked out well for you. My husband went for first check up with surgeon on Friday and he seemed really pleased with his progress. Said if he is dry at night the rest will come.
All the best with your recovery
