Hi all,

I've posted in the general but thought I better say hello.

52 and blood test came back with PSA 4.9

Some issues with low white blood cell counts and high liver readings.

Doctor has done the digital and says enlarged smooth.

I'd say I have no symptoms,  but maybe I do and maybe it's my mind playing tricks.

Pretty constant lower back pain, seem to dribble after passing stools.

Ejaculation somehow feels different,  but had the snip in November.

It might sound daft but I'm paranoid it's there and spread, but would this be possible with a 4.9 psa ?

I'm hoping the irregular bloods are causing the fatigue and lethargy, and my psa is naturally 4.9 ?

I have the mri Monday, and scan Tuesday for a lump in my chest.

Any thoughts please.

  • Surely radiology dept can give u a copy of MRI report, they are the ones who did it

  • Flat out refuse,  say speak to whoever referred you.

GP say he referred me onto the 2WW not for an MRI, Urology say I'm not under them till seen.

I've just rang and left a voice-mail at urology, basically has can I be expected to make an informed decision about the biopsy without any information.

    Not expecting a reply

  • That is not helpful at all.

Only other thing is I think there is a specific dept that deals with copies of things.

I remember asking for a copy of the MRI on disc which should include MRI report.

    Cost about £20 I think.

Could be worth trying that, if a hospital tel them

and ask if  there is a dept there for copies.

  • Hi, so spoken to MacMillan nurse.

She agrees I shouldn't be asked to consent to a biopsy without the information to make an informed decision.

Emailed and a man rang and agreed.

he has promised to ask one of the nurses to call.

I see a lot about the results of the mri in a format of letters and numbers ?

Can anyone advise if the ont share the full report what exactly I should be asking to see ? Thanks

  • The two main things are , one tumour or more, size of each in mm

Location of tumour (s) within the gland and hopefully not showing outside the gland.

U mention letters and numbers , you're probably talking about the TNM score, sometimes comes after MRI and sometimes after biopsy but U can ssk

Come back when U have some figures and there are plenty of people on here who can advise

  • Thanks all, a nurse rang me back which has calmed me down Slight smile

Apparently the call I had this morning from the booking staff was wrong.

They told me biopsy next Wednesday,  consultant after 10 days.

Apparently on Wednesday I am going to meet the consultant,  should he deem a biopsy needed they will do it then.

The nurse said she can't see much to worry about but density is borderline at 0.15.

Didn't give an indication of volume.

She said the consultant will take all this into consideration along with other factors and decide on what to do.

She said she's going to have a word with the booking team.
