Hello Everyone,

As many of you here know I've been having a rough time.

I still have a bit of a dull ache on my left pelvic area, I have constipation and ED...

My visit to the urologist isn't until the 19th...

Has anyone had metastasized issues and still beating the odds?

You do need to take a chill pill. You are going to cause yourself more problems by constant worrying about things that are very unlikely to happen.

It's very possible that all your issues are being caused by worry, anxiety and old age - just think of how your wife is taking this - you need to relax, take her out for a meal and forget about the "what if's" - wait until the 19th and find out then. Your team are there for you.

Remember - we are all getting older - I am 70, this morning I've been out with the dog (and Mrs Millibob) for a 5 mile walk, yes my back aches and yes I have ED (caused by Hormone Therapy) yes I was up 3 times last night for a wee BUT life with Prostate Cancer is very livable, life is bloody great and I am not ready for the grim reaper yet!!

Trust your team and wait for your result - stop all the "what if's" - I am sure you will be fine.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank You, my friend.

    Your advice is always sound.

    Thank You

  • Harry,

    Millibob (Brian) is spot on.

I had lung cancer in 2014 (no problems since), prostate cancer in 2016 then PC recurrence last year (chemo then drugs indefinitely) which changed my life again.

I'm 70 next year and like Brian my life is also bloody great despite similar treatment side effects. I'm currently in warm and sunny Tucson, Arizona enjoying the desert, cold beers, BBQs, mountain scenery and driving a huge V8 on cheap petrol with my wife smiling all day. I've also no intention of meeting the reaper just yet either.

Life definitely doesn't end with PC, even if metastasized, and usually continues for years.

Good luck for the 19th, I'm sure you'll be just fine.

    Derek.

  • Hello Derek,

Thank You for your message, and your kind words.

I read your profile and you are one strong man.

You are fortunate that yours hadn't spread, which is an important factor.

I unfortunately have the 3 symptoms of advanced PC - erectile dysfunction, constipation, and back/hip pain.

I am hanging my hat that 4 doctors said my prostate felt normal (I know that this isn't a good test), my is PSA 7.8 Free PSA 30.5% and metastasis usually is over PSA 20 as Brian mentioned to me in a prior post (Thank you, BrianThumbsup). But I've learned that metastasis can occur at lower PSA levels Pensive

I'm gearing myself for the worst and I hope there is a treatment that will at least let me stick around for awhile.

    Thank You again Hugging

  • Hi

Don’t “gear yourself up for the worst” it’s negative energy and that in itself is detrimental to your well being. Over thinking completely, if you have Prostate cancer it is highly unlikely to be advanced, it takes years to kick off to that level as it is a very slow growing cancer as a rule. My husband’s PSA was over 100 at diagnosis and that tends to be a point where you are more likely looking at metastatic spread, apparently it took well over 10 years of it slowly growing to get to that point. Even over 100 is very treatable and you need to be at a starting point of around 400 to really be in trouble.  My brother in law has a PSA of 15 at the moment and tests are showing nothing cancerous but prostatitis and infection.

Do try not to worry too much at this point, let us know how you get on with further tests and appointment's as It’s always good to hear results that are not as bad as first feared.

  • Hello L,

Thank You for your message and sharing your experience.

I am perplexed that I am experiencing symptoms with a PSA 9 and the latest result PSA 7.8.

From the good folks here, what is on the internet, and from your experience, having symptoms at my PSA numbers is unusual (at least that is what I think).

But this beast is unpredictable and doesn't play by the rules.

But from what I know now, my PSA numbers, four doctors finding nothing unusual with my prostate except it was enlarged, and 2 sets of x-rays of my hip area showing nothing (x-rays aren't that good to pick any evidence of cancer), it all seems to be towards a positive direction.

Thank You again for taking the time to write your message.  I truly appreciate it.  Your husband will get stronger and healthier.
