Hi all - new here, thanks for your time reading this post. My mother who is 74 had OC symptoms so was sent for a CA 125 test and this came back at 135. She then had some scans with have shown a pelvic cyst which the doctor said they think is cancerous and it is surrounded by fluid in her Pelvis. She has another scan tomorrow to get a closer look at it.

I’m prettified as my mother has so many other health conditions she has heart failure and kidney failure so concerned she won’t be able to have any treatment at all.

im also so angry as she had these symptoms for a long time, she reported them last year and was investigated for bowel cancer, but was cleared of that and they didn’t follow up to test for anything else, now a year later when her symptoms have progressed much further they have tested for this and found this.

Just wondering if anyone had any advise or people having treatment for OC whilst coping with other chronic health conditions. Life just doesn’t seem fair that one person would suffer from so many health conditions.

thanks in advance for your advise

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your mum has lots of underlying health issues and is now having investigations for a pelvic cyst. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that this turns out to be benign.

Once her consultant has the results of all the tests back there will be a MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting where all sorts of different specialists will discuss the best course of treatment for your mum. They will take into account her existing health problems in deciding what is the best course of treatment for her but that doesn't mean she won't get treatment.

Waiting for the results of tests can be a very stressful time both for the patient and their family. From my own personal experience I found that spending time doing things I enjoyed helped take my mind off the 'what ifs' that kept popping into my mind. Lots of people find mindfulness really helpful and if this is something that interests you clicking here will take you to the NHS Mental Health Apps page with links to apps, some of which are free.

You might also like to join the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your emotions with others who have loved ones waiting for results or living with cancer. If you'd like to do this clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here.

Do come back and let us known how your mum gets on

    Sending you a ((hug))
