Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience or know what the symptoms of brain mets are? Mum has been having really dizzy spells over the few days, walking like she is drunk, falling into walls and fell off the toilet today. Going to try and get the GP out tomorrow but obviously my mind is in overdrive and I cant help wondering if this could be brain mets, evil Dr Google obviously gives mixed info so I thought I'd come here for first hand knowledge.

Please don't worry about being frank

  • Hi Clearblue,

i don’t have any experience or know the symptoms of brain mets.

I did however spend a full Sunday sat on a kitchen chair because I couldn’t get off it for dizziness, on a couple of occasions when I tried to get up I nearly collapsed (I have never fainted in my life), I could not get up or down the kitchen without clinging onto the worktops. When I took a trip to the bathroom later in the day I collapsed when I got off the toilet, as I live alone and could not move I sent for an ambulance. They checked me over and everything was fine and said if I went to hospital I wouldn’t be kept in cos all results were ok so I stayed home. The following day occasionally I was a bit light headed but the following day it came back and 2 friends escorted me one either side cos I couldn’t walk straight to A&E. They diagnosed positional vertigo which although not nice would go away on its own, the only issue with my bloods was that my heamaglobin was low which could actually cause the symptoms I had and was easily fixed with more iron. Hopefully your mum gets a simple answer like me - let’s hope so

    Hi Clearblue,

You definitely need to get it checked out as it certainly could be brain Mets and also several other nasty illnesses. To be honest I would be down to A&E pronto in the morning and get them to investigate.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi clearblue

You really must get your mum checked. It could be something as simple as a water infection which can cause these symptoms, but please get her checked.

Julie, I had no idea you had been suffering. Glad you got it checked, hope the dizziness passes soon. Xx

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I'm ringing to doctor at 8.30 and then taking it from there, if we have to go to A&E we will do. Thanks again x

    Update:

GP came out and has referred for an urgent brain scan. On his way out he told my aunt he thinks it's brain mets. Just a waiting game now.

Thank you for your support x
