Swollen floor of mouth since tongue cancer

I’ve had quite a bit of tongue removed in two operations so I suppose like you said, a small price to pay really. I’m a year post RT this week and still struggle to eat very much. Is the base of your mouth swollen since RT? X

My consultant says there is still swelling and inflammation there ,and will be for quiet some time yet . I think he's saying get used to the new you!  Have you been able to drink any type of alcohol?

Thanks Mark, your consultant has told you more than mine has. Unfortunately alcohol no longer agrees with my tongue and I can’t drink my favourite wine or Bacardi and coke. The good news is that I’m able to drink Malibu and pineapple so I can be sociable when out with friends. Are you able to drink anything? X

I can have the odd g&t ,also I can drink 3.4 lager ,but no more than 2 pints ,I go to alcohol free lager usually if it bothers me too much. At least you can do a Pina colada!! X

Well that’s good news Mark, yes I’ve had a couple of pina colada’s so happy days x
