This is my first post and I’m pleased to meet you all!
I had chemo and radiotherapy for lymphoma a year ago (surgery in Nov23) and I was on a feeding tube for about a year. My eating was improving but life has been very stressful recently- dad died and mum has probably got dementia for starters. My tongue is so sore, I think I’m biting it in my sleep. I have a mouthguard but it makes my tongue sore underneath instead of down one side. I’ve tried Gelclair, Benzydamine mouthwash, painkillers of various types, different toothbrushes and toothpastes, and been to the hospital twice for help. I’m getting desperate and losing weight, very tired and down about it. Even Fortisips and water burns like mad, I have betamethosone mouthwash but that isn’t helping.
Any advice or help would be gratefully received thank you!
Good evening Sciencerocks, sorry to hear you are having a rough time at the moment, the only issue that i had was that one of my teeth was a bit jagged and it used to irritate my tongue, if i remember rightly they ground the sharp edge off which cured my problem. If you are loosing to much weight they might suggest an NG feeding tube until they get on top of it. Good luck.
