Hi again,
Sorry more questions I begin my treatment on 24th July, first day of radiotherapy and first week of chemo cisplatin.
I have been informed that I will be having my RIG fitted on 8th August at 1.30pm with 1 night in hospital. I also have chemo and radiotherapy on that day as well not had timing schedule as yet apart from RIG fitting.
How long do the cisplatin chemo treatment take each day?
I know that radio is about 30 mins.
Is this RIG fitting ok to be done 3 weeks into treatment? I'm seriously trying to get my head around all this.
Thanks
Sarah xx
Bless you that's so kind of you been a long old day, had a bit of a adjustment and tweek on the radiotherapy alignment had to see my oncologist, finally sorted and back in for radiotherapy
Trouble was it had a knock on affect with other appointments so had to have chemo later, it's was a long chemo session just over 5hrs got home 6.15pm. 1 radiotherapy and chemo down, it went well was given anti sickness tablet, steroids and took home steroids and anti sickness oh I also had mannitol in the drip.
Gosh talk about visiting the toilet to pee a lot off I trundled with my trolley and my jug which I had to measure and record oh the joys.
All done feeling ok but tired , radio only tomorrow so home early.

Well done Sarah. Take all your antisickness even if you don’t feel sick. Good luck for tomorrow. It will be a breeze compared to today. Hugs.

Good evening Sarah, hopefully, things will be a bit more settled next time , well done in getting through your first treatment of chemo and radio, wishing you all the best for the rest of your course of treatment. Take care.

Hi Sarah
well done day 1 is a long day. I took the anti sickness meds even though I wasn’t feeling sick. It worked for me. If they don’t work for you there’s lots of others you can take sometimes they need to tweak the meds. Tomorrow the mask may feel a little tight it’s usual all the saline you get pumped into you.
good luck for tomorrow

Hi Sarah, it appears that we are going on the same journey at the moment! The only difference is that my RIG was fitted on Tuesday (2 days ago) and my mask is being made today.
Just a heads up that the liquid I drank the day before my fitting gave me bad diarrhoea and when I told the surgeon that he never mentioned it beforehand apparently it was because he hasn’t heard of anyone else suffering with it! Just goes to show how everyone is different.
Also I have suffered with uncomfortable bloating which could be down to the gas when they pump up your stomach for insertion of the tube.
I will be following any blogs and tips you make regarding your radiotherapy.
Take care.
