my partner finished his treatment 30 rt 2 chemo nearly 8 weeks ago.

we saw the ent consultant and oncologist at the beginning of this week and they both said everything looked fine as far as they could see (tube down nose and feeling neck and looking in mouth )and that he would be having a scan in july at 12 weeks

however he has just been sent a letter for a c.t scan for next sunday .

is this normal ?

neither of them said he would need to come in for a c.t scan mid june .

i,m getting worried again now. he is having earache on a night in one ear and ent consultant said his salivia gland was swollen (healing he said ) and he was,nt worried

thanks

  • I found that it is very much trial and error as to what works and sometimes over time what did work no longer is effective.

  • okay ,why does everything always happen at the weekend and you cannot ask cns.its 14 weeks after rt and he had a pet scan yesterday ..just now he has spit up a blood clot (not fresh) about 1 ins but feels okay ..i have said to see if it happens again and if it does i,ll ring 111. .not really sure what to do and obviously cannot speak to his cns until monday

  • forgot to say ..he did,nt cough it up it just came up with mucous

  • not really sure what to do and obviously cannot speak to his cns until monday

Call 111 if you are really worried but to me it doesn’t seem urgent. Has your husband been a bit too adventurous with his food?
I remember at around a similar time I visited the dentist. He always seemed fascinated with the state of my throat and had a good poke about. He made me bleed when I got home.

  • thanks ..nothing else up to press so i,ll wait & just check with the cns on mon. he is,nt actually eating at the moment because it was causing the earaches /headaches to come on really bad ..but actually they have not been too bad at all this week only mild ,so we may try some soup later see how he goes.
