More surgerybut no chemo & no radiotherapy is that good or bad?

Cancer is back it’s the same kind & it’s only been found at join. Now not allowed any more radiotherapy & Chemo is not considered a great option but they would like to do more surgery.

Now as this is a very rare procedure, most people are usually diagnosed with this & it has spread elsewhere so surgery is usually ruled out. Mine surgeon is unable to carry out the procedure so is calling others & hoping they will.

May involve resectioning part of lower intestine & replacing the area of scar tissue with it.

Does anyone know if this procedurebeing carried out or anything similar. I am now just waiting for all to say yes it is on & when, been told it will be weeks it months.

Thanks guys

Zantri

Hi

I'm afraid I don't know whether having surgery but not radiotherapy or chemotherapy is a good sign or not. However, replying to your post will bump it back to the top of the page where hopefully it'll be seen by someone who does know this.

While you're waiting to see if you get any replies you could post this question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses should be able to get back to you within 2 working days.

Wishing you all the best with whatever treatment you have

Hi zantri

Really gutted to hear this although the offer of surgery is really encouraging.

As you know I recurred about 18 months ago and I'm still here and going strong. In fact I had a really really pleasing scan result yesterday, so I know you won't, but don't give up.

As far as I'm concerned I would say surgery is a great option. It's really rare and if they're convinced it's not spread then you're in with a chance of being cured for a second time. Did they say why chemo wasn't a good option? Could you maybe push for both for peace of mind?

Thinking of you no whatever happens.
