Flot before Op, heart problem

My brother in law started on Flot chemo, he has localised cancer adenocarcinoma which is also showing in a lymph node.

I think the idea was for him to have the Flot chemo before the Ivor Lewis op, but unfortunately he has heart problems, so he never managed to complete the Flot chemo. It gave him a heart attack.

I believe the reason for this was he had 4 lots of Flot chemo within 4 hours. I think it was too much for his body to take.

He is now being told that the Ivor Lewis op will be down to the advice of a heart surgeon. Whilst I understand the safety of my brother in law is paramount, I now don't know what options he has if the heart surgeon says he will not survive the op.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is there anybody on any trials or using immunotherapy that seems to have an effect.

I lost my wife nearly 2 years ago to cancer, since then I have lost a number of friends to it and want to help my brother in law as much as possible, without seeming to be just overloading him with information I can find throughout the Internet.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your brother-in-law's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
