Hi everyone I am currently on my forth cycle of pre op flot with surgery in January My consultant wants me to do the Decipher trial for post op chemotherapy instead of FLOT using the drug trastuzumab deruxtecan. Has anyone else been offered this or had this treatment? Thanks Sarah

  • Hi Sarah29 welcome to the forum. I have no knowledge of the drugs or trials you are asking about. However, there will be others in this thread whom I feel sure will be along soon to offer some information and support. Best wishes for now..

  • Hello Sarah,

What stage of the trial is it and have you been told what the potential benefits might be versus the risks? My husband is in a clinical trial called Fortitude. This is for those with OC for whom surgery is not an option. They need to be suitable for immunotherapy and not have been on any other treatment before. The trial is in the second stage. The first stage showed an improved survival rate but with a high risk for certain side effects. This stage is focusing on the side effects more.

Right from his initial GP appointment, the NHS has been amazing. Since entering the trial, he's had gold standard treatment. People can't be paid to participate in trials, just get expenses paid. This includes mileage and parking. He's closely monitored by the MDT and specialists in other departments where potential side effects are being monitored. Everyone has taken a close interest in him as an individual, which is greatly appreciated. When side effects have been bad (down to the chemo, not the immuno nor trial) he said he feels like a guinea pig. It's 50% chance of being on the trial drug or a placebo, which is another thing to beat on mind.

I tell you these things so that you can consider them in making your decision but know nothing about the Decipher trial specifically.

I've noticed from reading lots of threads in this forum related to post op FLOT that many don't complete the full course or at full strength because of side effects and/or other health problems or symptoms of OC.

    Wishing you the best outcome,

    Lorraine
