Indeed it is Mike.
I must admit they've been really good over the last 11 months.
In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Abraham Lincoln
As I said to the doctor yesterday, I'm getting stronger every day now, which makes it a bit weird why these lymph glands have swollen so much. Today is cooler so will be having a longer walk, managing 3 miles in one direction then a half hour sit down with a piece of cake and coffee then return home.
Hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend.
Peter, “Coffee and Cake” regardless of all the stuff that is going on around you - way to go man.... as my few American friends say all the time.

Absolutely Mike, sadly though my weight seems to be stuck at 98-99KG and its making my knees and ankles sore at the end of the day. I put that down to loss of muscle while having chemo, so with a whole summer in front of us I'll do my best to get that sorted out.
Peter, don’t find an excuse to not have a Coffee and a Cake as a reward
But loss of muscle on chemo is such a challenge to overcome. I am 6ft tall and was 114kgs when everything kicked off 5+ years back and went down to 83kgs at my lowest now back to high 90s so good protection for a Highland winter...... and my Kilt fits again.
Mike I'm 6'3" and for 30 odd years my weight was 93 Kg. I feel best at that weight.
Peter, the whole thing can cost a fortune. I went from a 40” waste straight down to a 36” and now slowly up to a 38” waste.
One of the challenges during SCT was my SCT unit required that I have a complete change of clean cloths day and night every day!!
Ok if we had been near home but being a 9hrs round trip away from home it looked like we were going on a world cruise the day we left for Glasgow
Well I have gone the other way just can't keep the weight off!! Been told it's the steroids so now I'm off them hopefully the weight will come off
Had a bit of pain in my stomach today, but the fatigue is the worst absolutely knackered by the afternoon, roll on 20th of this month and the scan then appointment with my doctors 4th June for results
I am having the same problem - and I am not on steroids - lol.
I have put it down to lack of exercise and too much cake
Like you Fred, I am now eagerly waiting for my scan and results
The discussion about weight reminded me of a passing conversation with a person in a supermarket.
She worked in the same educational facility as me but in a different department - a sort of small talk at the photocopier type friendship. I had retired 7 years before so she had no knowledge of my cancer journey so the conversation went:
Her "Oh hiya, how is retirement going?"Me "Oh.....its been been interesting and had its challenges, how about you?"Her "Oh the new building is great but life is soooooo stressful. But you are looking great and retirement looks as though it has done you some good, what diet have you been on?'Me "............ It's called the ALLOSCT diet"Her - taking out her phone "Oh I am just making a note of that one as it looks as though it works and I will try anything"As she begins to walk away she said "All the best and I am definitely going to have a go at that diet - was it expensive?"Me "........................ well it just about cost me everything"Her from further down the vegetable department "You can't put a cost on looking good...... byeeeee":) :) :)
Touch wood Mike you never have to go through that again. I found it enough of a pain stopping anyone from using my towels, soap, etc and my towels we changed every day, now we have some nice new ones as they got a bit tatty over the course of my chemo. Just hoping now that I don't have to have more.
Fred and Nix,
It will be hard to lose unless you get quite a bit more exercise and thats difficult because of the exhaustion. Looking at my scribblings since 1st Feb when I had my last cycle, up until the beginning of April it was really difficult to get any decent amount of exercise on a daily basis, but since then its getting a tiny bit better every day, even though I've got a big lump again as well as a couple of smaller ones that are slowly getting larger.
I hope your scans are good ones, mine were okay but I didn't want copies.
Mike how hilarious if you look at it from the "I haven't got a clue angle"
I've had one or 2 people ask me how I am, but I don't say what I've had as it'd get round town so fast and we know most of the people here, just don't want to talk about it to all and sundry.
I now have a quick appointment for tomorrow at 3pm, thats for my PET/ct scan, but they won't do the biopsy tomorrow.
Lumps are getting bigger anyway and the armpit one is causing problems with its size, red skin and I can't let my arm hang against it as it then hurts, its causing swelling at the back of the armpit as well as on my chest.
I'll be seeing my specialist nurse as well and I'll show her.
Things have gone to pot, Had my pet/ct scan then another ct scan (for different reason) then got told my biopsy was booked for the 20th May, told my nurse and thats far to long they say as its been noted that the swelling in my armpit is now halfway across my chest and my shirts are getting tight lol.
Hopefully tomorrow I will find out more, but to be honest I'm a bit spooked as they say it might well not be glands, but otherwise I feel good and I'm more active as each day goes by.
