Hello there!
So i am 24 and I got diagnosed with eye melanoma in Nov 2020 and i have now had Proton Beam Therapy at clatterbridge cancer centre. The process so far has been the best it can be. I have a post op virtual meeting with my consultant in 6 weeks. How long after this do you get your check up to find out if it’s worked? I haven’t heard anything about this yet. Looking for anyone to help.
Thankyou,
All the best to you all!
HI JM
I Was treated for OM in my early twenties much like yourself. I'm 49 now so it was a few years ago although I still insist on a regular surveillance schedule . I can't speak about time scales in relation to Proton Beam that was well before my time however happy to be of any other help I can .
Regards OP
Hi , just starting my journey at not far from your current age, Owen. I’m afraid I’m a plaque patient (mid-therapy right now) so can’t help you with Proton Beam. It takes a while to find out whether the plaque has worked. In this article, it seemed the journalist had proton beam follow-up around 2 months after: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-48950937
I hope it goes well for you,
Owen, have you been having your liver as well as your eye monitored? Still trying to come to terms with what comes next!
Cheers both.
Hi B.O.W.l
I am happy to discuss things if we can continue via direct message.
Regards Owen
Hi I did try and send you a direct message
Hi Owen, I didn’t get anything, but I think you can ‘friend me’ and that will, allow me to message you. I’m no expert, but I think you can click on my profile and then connect+ in the top right, add as friend. Then I think I can message you. I’ve also put my settings to allow messages from anyone. Thanks for reaching out, and hope we can connect.
HI B.O.W.L , I wanted to check if you had received the second message ?
