Hello all,

I'm Steph from the Community team. I am posting here today to introduce  as an assigned Community Champion for the eye cancer group.

The Community Champions are a dedicated team of volunteers here in the Community. They are members who found the Community to be really helpful and wanted to give something backOur Champions offer support and a listening ear; they help new members find their way around the site and also help the Community team to keep the site safe for everyone.

You may have met  previously in this group, or across the Community, usually supporting members of the skin cancer and melanoma groups. Latchbrook has kindly offered to officially help out with the eye cancer group too.

I hope you will join me in welcoming latchbrook to the group.

If volunteering is something you're interested in, we’re looking for members who have offered lots of kind words and support to other members. Community Champions will also have ideally been active for a while on the site.  If this sounds like you or a member you’ve seen on the site, why not let us know at community@macmillan.org.uk?

Best wishes,

  • Hi everyone!

I'm hoping that between us we can make this group a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support for anyone with eye cancer.

I know that eye cancer is fairly rare but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't look for ways to offer support and information. This post has been viewed by 34 people so far so hopefully that means there are at least 35 of us who are around to share experiences and offer support.

I intend to set up a general 'welcome' post which will always remain on the first page of the discussions list. Hopefully, it'll be a place where new people can look for information when they first arrive here. I'd be very interested to hear what sort of information you'd all have found helpful when you were first diagnosed.
