Does anyone else get people saying to them well we are all going to die.
I have stage four secondary breast cancer to bones.
People just don't think before they say something like that.
It's amazing the thoughtless things people say to you.
Hope everyone can have a lovely Christmas .
Thank you for this reply.
I've had so many mindless comments that I now have a chuckle to myself and think they haven't a clue.
Still hurts me though.
Maybe they just don't know what to say to someone with cancer.
I recently had someone ask if I knew how long I had.
Been asked by this same person twice now.
Just told them that isn't known at this time.
I would never ask that.
Take care x
Hi Shaw,
Like you, I am 65 and have been clear for 9 years but was diagnosed with secondaries in bones and liver yesterday. I have a liver biopsy booked for this Thursday so they can check whether the secondaries are the same as my primary (ER+, PR+, Her2negative) as they need to know this before recommending treatment. But the oncologist thought it would probably be chemo.
I hated chemo the first time round (2 hospital stays due to sepsis) but it was doable. If that's what they suggest then I guess I'll try it and see how it goes.
I'd like some sort of treatment to start ASAP as I'm in quite a lot of pain due to the bone mets in ribs & spine and oncologist was hopeful the pain would reduce if the treatment works. So, for me, I'll put up with the chemo pain in the hope that it will reduce the bone pain.
Like you I feel cheated of some more healthy years, but I guess we were lucky to get 9 clear years after the primary diagnosis.
Good luck with your decision and any treatment you choose.
Hi.
Thanks for replying. Waited 9 days now for spine bone biopsy. I'm terrified. Good luck to you. I go to Liverpool Royal hospital. Treatment will be Clatterbridge lm told. If l had my time again ld enjoy it more.
Feel very sorry for myself and other cancer patients. I never expected cancer back after nine years.
Xxx
