Hi,

Has anyone had a prescription for medical marijuana? Or know how private prescriptions work?

I know it’s very difficult through the NHS. But I see you can pay around £50 for a private consultation and get a prescription if you fit the criteria. The prescription should then cost around £20.

I wondered if anyone had done this? Or if anyone knew if you pay a one off £50 for the prescription and then can just pay £20  for refills.

I’m concerned you may need to keep paying £50 to a private doctor every month to get the prescription re-activated & then another £20- which at £70 a month is more then the CBD oil I’m now using.

  • Hi would you have details of the article? Thank youx

  • I wish it was that cheap! It cost £100 to cover my consultation( and follow ups as needed), £40 a month for a subscription and then my prescription which was a combination of oil takenn sublingually and flower which is vaped - in total not much change out of £200. And I actually use more of the flower so my monthly total including subscription is about £400!  I filled in a free questionnaire online, then they agreed I was eligible and I went to the online interview which is totally refundable if you are deemed unsuitable so there’s absolutely no catch! The only bugbear for me is the amount of time it takes from request to delivery- but I think that has something to do with all the regulations and hoops they have to jump through! ( it comes by special delivery in discreet smell proof packaging). I have had a follow up interview, plus one to adjust my dose, and I have used the online help and they respond within 24 hours. I wish it was available online as I have been able to reduce my opiate intake drastically to 5ml dose every 1 or 2 days( down from 20-25 mg a day I count that as nothing short of a miracle!) the oil takes longer to work, but it has a long lasting effect, whereas the flower acts within 5 mins( when you’re hurting that is a massive bonus!) so I use th oil twice a day, and then use the flower for breakthrough pain. Try it- you won’t be sorry, it is designed to get you pain free, not high- there’s practically no smell and no smoke so very discreet, and it helps me stay calm when I’m having a bad day with my Crohn’s. I hope this helps

  • Minimum of £120 a month I’m afraid - £40 subscription every month and then prices start at £80 and rise up from there- currently costing me just short of £400 a month!

  • Hi   can I ask what clinic you're with? I'm a medical user but my costs/fees are no way near what you're being charged, and definitely no £40 a month subscription fee, you can change clinics quite easily and therefore you should be able to bring that monthly cost down

  •   I'm a medical user but my clinics fees are nothing like yours, do you mind me asking who you are with? I definitely don't pay any monthly subscriptions and don't pay repeat prescription fees, my inPrayitial consultation was £50 with a 6 week follow up thats also £50, i have also been prescribed oil and flower, there are some flower options as low as £5 per gram so with a bit of research, you could get Praythose monthly costs down
