Happily forced into early retirement due to a methylated glioblastoma. I was originally operated on May 2023 with the usual radio and chemo joint treatment followed by 6 months high strength chemo.

Unfortunately, I was informed on Wednesday that I have recurrence and have reached out for help for the very first time.

I have positivity, hope and a lovely support network of family and friends and enjoy life too much to roll over Relaxed️

  • Your positivity is infectious! Six months ago he would walk the dog with me every day, now he can barely make it to the end of the driveway. I try and push him as much as i can, but he’s a very stubborn man. I will definitely research some positive outcomes as all he says is that he’s doomed! Thank you so much for finding the time to respond to me. I really appreciate it

  • Not a problem Mary. Tell him there is hope and to keep up with the fight Muscle tone2

  • HI Boggins

a warm welcome to the community. ( I saw your supplements question but thought I'd reply under this post as like Gail, I have no personal experience to add to it.)

I supported my late husband G throughout the three years of his GBM journey. You can read the gist of that tale in my bio. He was first diagnosed in Sept 2020 (he was 50), had the original tumour debulked and then had the standard 6 weeks of oral chemo/radiotherapy. Once that was over, he declined all other offers of treatment. He was a fitness fanatic (a marathon runner) and right up until the end of his journey in Oct 2023, fitness was of paramount importance to him. Personally I think that and his stubborn attitude extended his journey.

In 2022, he set PB times in all of his competitive distances up to and including marathon. (3:15:28 for the 2022 Manchester marathon) By Aug 2023 a DVT put paid to the running but he would still cycle on his static bike in the garage and walk anything up to 18miles a day. On reflection, what he achieved is little short of miraculous. Six days before he passed away peacefully, he cycled for 3hrs in the garage.

Life is for living so carpe diem. I love your positive mindset and hope that you can continue to enjoy those long walks.

  • What a lovely reply and touching story. He lived as he wanted and that is so admirable.

It's amazing that his fitness stayed right the way through.

  • Hello,my husband was diagnosed in May 2023 for GBM , he is still on chemo tablets - which has been over a year, I think mainly because he doesn't get any side effects. He work's full time, exercises three times a week.He doesn't take any supplements but he has a strict Keto diet which he has chosen to follow.

No recurrence as yet, but I always wonder when that may happen.

  • This is the first time that I've heard about someone being on chemotherapy all the time, so find it quite interesting.

I did 2 years before recurrence which I found out of last week. I've been told it's very operable but am waiting for the MDT to see what options are going to be available. It may well be the offer of the same treatment regime as your husband.

I'm keen on the Idea of trials, so am going to keep up with the supplements alongside the keto diet to keep myself as well as possible.

Does  your husband use MCT C8 oil?

Wish him all the best and long may those clear scars continue!

  • Oh my word! My wife sent me a link this morning and I've just been on with Macmillan help line asking how I'd go about signing up.!

Thank you so much for finding this and thinking of me Relaxed️

  • You are very welcome. There is also the olive oil trial at the Marsden. My oncologist said I have a particular makeup genetically following the whole genome assessment that would make me s candidate for that but as my tumour has gone theres no point referring me atm. Might suit you

  • I'll have a look at that today and I'll see if my oncologist is aware of it.

    Thanks again.
