Fit test positive and colonoscopy in four days

Hi

I feel a bit like I’m on a rollercoaster at the moment. I’m a 46 year old mum of two girls (one only four years old) and I’ve recently found blood in my stool - not a lot at all but enough to worry me. The fit test came back 232.

Aside from that I have no other symptoms. I have no pain, no anemia detected on the bloods etc.

i am so scared as I’m sure all you are and desperately trying to reassure myself that it’s just because I’ve taken up running and ran my first 10k or because the haemorrhoids I had in pregnancy have flared up inside me. I’ve never prayed for piles so much! I will say though that level of blood on the fit test score has worried me now I’m reading more on this forum. I don’t suppose anyone could reassure me?

thank you in advance x

  • I’ll do a new post for anyone who finds themselves with high for test results and worried because I found so much comfort from these posts.

my fit was 232 and visible blood was seen in my stool but I have my colonoscopy yesterday and not only was it absolutely fine, a bit of discomfort but not painful, the team were reassuring and professional and they found three polyps. Two they got out, one has been sent off non urgently for biopsy but they’ve assured me in their experience there was no evidence of cancer. The other was tiny and the third is still there but too close to the other one so they want to do that in three months - it’s small and looks fine.

the relief is unbelievable. Thank you everyone! A high fit test does not mean anything!
