My dad's prostate cancer has come back and spread to the bone

Posted by

Hi, i found out yesterday that my dad's prostate cancer has returned and is now in the bone (actually came back 6 months ago but they didnt tell me).

I dont want to keep asking my parents questions as they are worried and upset and my dad is really confused as a result of the painkillers.

I just want to get an honest answer about what this means. His PSA has come down to 1.5 (from 160), but he is still in a lot of pain in his legs.

He has to wait 4 months to see an oncologist which i find insane - i hate to ask but do we need to prepare ourselves?

Thankyou, Kathryn

I can't help with your question but I was passing and noticed that you hadn't had any replies yet.

Could I recommend that you also join and post this in the prostate cancer group as there are quite a few men in that group whose prostate cancer has spread. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
