Hello I am back ... dropping in for support and information
first diagnosed with Herceptin positive in 2012 - I have had regular annual mammograms and almost to the point of thinking I was out of the woods...
Having had regular hip pain since November when I took up regular walking I have put off advising my oncologist hoping it would go away. With the virus situation following my mamo in March I called my BC nurse last week and said that I have intermittent hip pain and the Xray I had in January did not show anything to worry about and I was sent for physio. As i still have intermittent hip pain they have got me booked in for a bone scan this week! omg that is so fast it has made me sick with worry .. i have gone in one week from thinking it is tight glutes to feeling so anxious and low I have come back to this group searching for symptoms and positive stories if the news after my Bone Scan is not want I wanted .. Not sure I can do it all again ..
I am scared of even going for the scan ...
cant find anything on the groups of what symptoms are either of secondary hip .. It all feels so unreal I think as I have not seen any consultant just all telephone calls with the lovely BC nurses ..

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that since having breast cancer in 2012 you're now worried that you might have secondary breast cancer in your hip.

Although I haven't been in exactly your position, I totally understand how scary having a cancer diagnosis is. We all dread being told that our cancer has spread and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that your scan comes back with a benign reason for your pain.

You might like to consider joining the secondary breast cancer group and putting your post there as well. It's generally a busier group than this one and you might find others there with secondaries in their hip who can tell you what their symptoms were.

To join, just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

I have also found this information for you on symptoms of secondary breast cancer in the bones and you might find this Macmillan booklet on understanding secondary breast cancer answers some of your questions.

When you feel up to it, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
