NHS LETTER

Hello everyone

Can I just ask how many (if any) of you that are currently on BCG treatment have received a letter from the NHS re: Coronavirus?

Our daughter is classed as a key-worker and lives with myself and my husband - who so far has received 18 instillations of BCG - with his next lot due after a check in June 2020. Her employers have sent her home because we have assumed that my husband is ‘vulnerable’ - however we have not yet received a letter - and her employers are asking her for this.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Many thanks Nicola x

Hi Nicola, I have had 17 BCG doses and have had a letter from NHS. But I am also over 70. I assumed it was for the BCG reasons, but could be age? Who knows. Contact your GP maybe?

Thanks for your reply Hero - much appreciated. I think we’ll leave it a few days and then maybe give the GP a ring. Take care.

Hi Nicola. There seems to be a lot of anomalies across the board with these letters. Some who should have them have not received one while others have had them for no apparent reason. There are so many going out, there will be some mistakes. If you do not get any communication, considering the situation you are in, try your GP as H. suggests. Best wishes.

Hi Nicola,

I had my 12th BCG on Tuesday 24th and my wife (also Nicola ) is a Teaching assistant at a primary school and currently in work for front line workers children- as of yet we have not received the letter or text. The school have left the choice up to my wife for the time being and thankfully they are working on a rota basis..

We have been keeping apart in the house for the last 3 weeks (its not easy at times & I also have two teenage sons who live at home)

My urology nurse recommended I avoid people back on the 10th March so we have all been trying to keep our distance in the house since. Thankfully we have a spare room so that's where I am.

Hope you get sorted soon, stay safe & take care.

PS- I also turned 52 on Sunday and it was a very strange birthday being in this position within our own home.

Thanks for the replies - I am wondering if the people on BCG who got the letter are all over 70???

Currently trying to get through to GP & Urology Dept at the Hospital - will keep you informed.

Keep safe everyone.

Hi everyone, just to let you know our Urology Nurse called me back late this afternoon to say my husband isn’t classed as in the ‘vulnerable’ group and won’t be receiving a letter. She was very nice and helpful - she said this could also be because of his age (58) and the fact that he has no other underlying health conditions. Just thought I’d let you all know.

Take care

ps wasn’t it emotional going out to clap tonight at 8pm

A lady on Twitter said that a letter came in the post for her husband, he's been dead for 7 years.

It’s a bit weird that I have had the letter. I’m 50 and finished my first 6 of BCG mid Feb. I’m going nuts here, on day 5 and cabin fever already setting in!

take care, Hilary x
